    Prerequisite: Knowledge of general chemistry content and an undergraduate degree. This online teacher recertification course is a study of teaching strategies for implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) framework. The course will focus on the integration of chemistry content, cross-cutting concepts, and science practices through innovative video lessons and activities. Students will view and analyze videos of exemplary chemistry lessons, reflect on their teaching and how to improve practice, and review core chemistry concepts. All course work is completed online.

    Chemistry teachers will find this course useful in helping them:

    • Reflect on current practices
    • Review core content
    • Begin considering integration of crosscutting concepts and science practices into disciplinary core ideas
    • Review and adapt assessment techniques to assess both the conceptual categories for understanding and the practices outlined by the Next Generation of Science Standards
